SeaOwl Group Tanzania: Site Lifting Foreman/Person in Charge (SLF)

Job Brief:
The Lifting Foreman will oversee the preparation, organization, and execution of mechanical lifting operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency. The role involves close coordination with contractors, subcontractors, and site teams to uphold standards and prevent incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate all lifting operations on site.
  • Ensure compliance with lifting plans, safety procedures, and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-lift safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Inspect lifting equipment, slings, shackles, and rigging gear.
  • Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and engineers for safe execution.
  • Enforce permit-to-work systems and safe lifting practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to rigging teams.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain documentation of lifting operations and inspections.
  • Work 6 days/week, 10 hours/day (with possible overtime when needed).
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction as Lifting Foreman.
  • Certified in Lifting Operations (ISO/LEEA/EAL/CPA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, steel structures, and mechanical lifting.
  • Experience with method statements, lifting plans, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to train and mentor site personnel.
  • Strong safety mindset and ability to work under pressure.
