Position Summary
The Geological Technician supports underground mining operations by ensuring high-quality geological sampling, data collection, and ore tracking. The role contributes to accurate reporting, safety, and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct ore drive backsight, face marking, and sampling accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with truck operators to ensure correct stockpile dumping and avoid ore loss/dilution.
- Collect drill core samples according to SOPs, ensuring quality and proper documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of geological data, reports, and documents.
- Maintain equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Provide peer and management feedback, participate in continual improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Geology Senior Technician or Mine Geologists.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Geology from a recognized institution or equivalent.
- Valid Tanzanian driving license.
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years in the mining industry, including 2 years in underground mining.
- Experience in Emergence Power Generation is an added advantage.
Skills & Knowledge
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- Fluency in English and Swahili (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Geological underground face mapping, sampling, and ore tracking expertise
