Position Summary

The Geological Technician supports underground mining operations by ensuring high-quality geological sampling, data collection, and ore tracking. The role contributes to accurate reporting, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct ore drive backsight, face marking, and sampling accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with truck operators to ensure correct stockpile dumping and avoid ore loss/dilution.
  • Collect drill core samples according to SOPs, ensuring quality and proper documentation.
  • Ensure timely delivery of geological data, reports, and documents.
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Provide peer and management feedback, participate in continual improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Geology Senior Technician or Mine Geologists.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Geology from a recognized institution or equivalent.
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license.

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years in the mining industry, including 2 years in underground mining.
  • Experience in Emergence Power Generation is an added advantage.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Fluency in English and Swahili (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Geological underground face mapping, sampling, and ore tracking expertise
