Overall Purpose of the Role
The Protection Officer (Palliative Nurse Care) will provide clinical expertise in community-based rehabilitation (CBR) services to Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs) with serious medical conditions and home-bound/bedridden PSNs. This includes home-based care, palliative care, basic medical interventions, and psychological support, in coordination with CBR teams and multidisciplinary partners.Main Responsibilities
Clinical Care and Case Management- Conduct thorough assessments of PSNs’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Develop individualized care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer and educate on medications, ensuring proper dosage and adherence.
- Provide comprehensive pain and symptom management.
- Support patients and families in clarifying goals of care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary palliative care teams (physicians, social workers, CBR team).
- Liaise with external healthcare professionals and agencies.
- Provide training to CBR incentive staff on palliative service.
- Support community structures and service partners for PSNs care.
- Maintain patient records and PSNs files.
- Collect and report data on PSNs with serious medical conditions.
- Prepare timely and accurate weekly, monthly, and donor reports.
- Track indicators with support from Information Management and M&E teams.
- Contribute to planning, budgeting, and procurement under supervision.
- Support PSN outreach workers and ensure quality of service delivery.
- Manage clinical supplies, equipment, and ensure their maintenance.
- Report any security incidents immediately.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- Minimum 2 years of clinical/administrative experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license (BSN or diploma in nursing preferred).
- Certification in Palliative Care Nursing highly desirable.
- Previous palliative care, hospice, or home-based care experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Willingness to travel and work in challenging camp environments.
